There was a bug in version 2.0.4 only (fixed in version 2.0.5) that adversely affected foot pedal settings. Earlier or later versions are not affected by this bug.
Sorry, long post.
I have been using an Infinity USB foot pedal for years without any issues. For the past month, it has worked intermittently or not at all on the same laptop it had worked previously on for many years.
I have googled it to death and tried many different things suggested including changing power management options for the USB ports. My other USB plug ins are not having an issue. I have downloaded different drivers for Windows 10 as it was suggested it was a driver issue, yet, the foot pedal does not require drivers.
Having read that others were having the same issues, I went out and got a new laptop with Windows 10 and two new Infinity foot pedals. Surprise, still the same issues. Again, repeated many of the options that I tried on the Windows 7 laptop, including drivers, power management, etc.
The software programs I use with the foot pedal are Windows 10 and Windows 7 compatible. I tried the compatibility options for the programs and went all the way back to Windows XP with no luck.
The laptops both recognized the foot pedal. It would be listed in the device manager which stated it was working properly. There were no conflicts with it. Troubleshooter would only find an issue if it was plugged into a USB 3.0 port and would say it might not work. Best change at getting it to work do a reboot. If it worked, it stopped when I lifed my foot off the pedal.
I got one of my old laptops out that was running Windows 7 and plugged in the foot pedal. It worked for 2 days when stopped and now have the issues. There were no updates done to the older laptop as I didn't want to chance it was update that was the issue.
I don't know where else to look. Pretty much at my wits end. Cannot work without the foot pedal. It is the only compatible foot pedal with the one software program I use.
This is the Windows 10 laptop
Windows 10 Pro, 2018 Microsoft Corp. Intel Core i7-4600U CPU @ 2.10 GHz, 2.70 GHz. 64 bit OS x64-based processor
Everything is update as far as Microsoft is concerned.

You can find instructions for the installation and connection of VEC and VPE pedals here.
Please also refer to the 'Connection and Setup' item on Foot Pedal Control on the Express Scribe Help Manual (Help -> Help Contents) if you have not done so already.
If you are using Game Port pedals check you have installed game port drivers. If you do not have specific drivers for your pedals, you will need to install the Windows generic '2 axis, 4 button joystick' device using the Game Controllers item on the Windows Control Panel.
V-Pedals require USB drivers that are provided on the Windows 2000/XP CD-ROM. When the pedals are first plugged in Windows Plug & Play may ask the user to insert their Windows CD-ROM to locate these. If the user cancels this install process or does not have the Windows CD the pedals will not work when running Express Scribe. Express Scribe must be rerun after the USB drivers are installed from the Windows CD-ROM.
You must select the correct port (ie. COM, GamePort or VEC USB) from Express Scribe Settings.
You must run the Foot Pedal Setup Wizard from Express Scribe Settings.
